COVID-19: Goa reported 23 per cent positivity, 1789 new infections on Saturday

Panaji: Goa reported one of the highest spike of COVID-19 third wave with 1789 people testing positive for the infection, registering 23.25  per cent positivity on Saturday.

As per the bulletin released by the State Health department, the state reported 1789 positive cases on Saturday, taking the total toll to 1,87,987.

The positivity rate hiked from 21.72 percent on Friday to 23.25 per cent on Saturday.

The figures of fatalities due to COVID-19 infection touched 3,531 as one of the patients succumbed to the infection during the day.

The number of recovered patients in the state rose to 176907 with 170 of them getting discharged on Saturday. The number of active cases has peaked to 7549, the official said.

“With 7693 new tests, the total number of tests conducted in the state has gone up to 16,66,034,”  he added.
