Margao: The delegation of Congress party on Wednesday met District Electoral Officer complaining about the attempts to delete names of voters from the list at the instinct of ruling politicians.

GPCC President Girish Chodankar, Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat and party’s state General Secretary Sankalp Amonkar met DEO Ajit Roy in Margao.

Confirming about the visit, Chodankar said that the DEO has assured that there will be no illegal deletion of the name from the list.

The Congress party pointed out that the objections were being raised in the name of dead persons, which are considered in connaivance with the Booth Level officers.

The party demanded that Election Authorities would transfer the suspected BLOs specially from Mormugao Taluka where such instances were found in a large number.

Amonkar had investigated and exposed this issue recently wherein the revision of the electoral roll was being misused by some people to delete the names of voters.
