Panaji: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) on Tuesday announced to expel Urfan Mulla from primary membership of the party for six years with immediate effect. This comes two days after Urfan Mulla tendered his resignation from the post of Congress Minority Cell chairman and spokesman of GPCC.
GPCC condemned Mulla’s statements to the media where he had expressed his unhappiness with the party’s working. GPCC in a letter stated that Mulla has deliberately acted in calculated manner to lower the prestige of the party. “You have shown disrespect to the Centre and State party leadership which amounts to serious indiscipline on your part. Such action of yours clearly establish the fact that you have been indulged in anti-party activities,” GPCC stated in the letter addressed to Mulla.
It further stated that GPCC president Girish Chodankar has approves his expulsion and he has been expelled from primary membership for six years.
Earlier, Mulla had alleged that the congress suffers from lack of organization, lack of direction and ideology and most importantly lack of leadership.He added in his resignation letter that the old guards of congress party in the state have failed in giving spaces to its young and ambitious leaders.
