Adv. Aires Rodrigues has urged the Chief Justice of India not to consider the name of Additional Solicitor General Atmaram Nadkarni for appointment as Judge of the Supreme Court.

In a letter to Chief Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde which has been also sent to all the other 32 Supreme Court Judges, Adv. Rodrigues has drawn their attention to former Goa Advocate General Atmaram Nadkarni’s acts of omission and commission over the years.

Adv. Rodrigues in his letter has given detailed reasons as to why the name of the very tainted Atmaram Nadkarni should not be considered for the coveted post of Supreme Court Judge.

Drawing the attention of the Supreme Court judges to Atmaram Nadkarni’s close links with the Mining, Casino and Builder’s lobby, Adv. Rodrigues in his letter has further stated that in violation of ethics and in conflict of interest Atmaram Nadkarni was appearing directly and indirectly in cases against the Government.

Pointing out that it would be the darkest day in the history of the Indian Judiciary if Atmaram Nadkarni was elevated as a Supreme Court Judge, Adv. Rodrigues in his letter has cautioned that if a person like Atmaram Nadkarni is allowed to occupy the August chair as Judge of the India’s highest temple of Justice, the Supreme Court will be reduced to a den for fixing matters – and become a trader’s paradise.

Adv. Rodrigues has also stated that it would be a Judicial catastrophic blunder which under no circumstances can be allowed as the integrity and sanctity of the Supreme Court must be preserved at all cost.
