Panaji: With the peeling of bells in the mid-night announcing birth of Lord Jesus, the Christmas was celebrated with traditional fervour in Goa with thousands thronged Churches and Chapels to offer prayers.

All the Churches and Chapels in the coastal state, where 30 per cent of the population believes in Christian faith, were decked up to the occasion.

Due to COVID-19 protocol, the social distancing was maintained during the masses, which were held mid-night in the Churches and Chapels.

In some Churches, special pandal was put up outside the premises so that the people need not make rush inside the building to attend mass.

While for mid-night masses, 200 people at a time are allowed in the Church, the size of the crowd for the masses during the day (on December 25) will have to be decided by each priest.
