Panaji: Indian squash player Yash Fadte has won the RPM Power Aarhus Open in Denmark, one of the leading tournaments on the Danish squash calendar and a prominent tournament on the European squash circuit.
Fadte produced an impressive run throughout the tournament, defeating several highly ranked players on his way to the championship.
In the quarterfinals, Fadte defeated Karl Mcloughney, Ireland’s No. 3, 3–0 (11–7, 11–8, 11–9).
He followed that with a 3–1 victory over Malthe Laursen, Denmark’s No. 2, in the semifinals to reach the final.
In the final, Fadte faced Magnus Laursen, Denmark’s No. 1, and delivered another outstanding performance, winning 3–1 (11–8, 18–16, 7–11, 11–4) in 62 minutes to clinch the RPM Power Aarhus Open title.
The tournament featured strong international participation, with players from Spain, Norway, Ireland, Scotland, Denmark, Sweden and India, among other countries. Fadte’s victory over two of Denmark’s top players, along with his win over Ireland’s No. 3, makes the achievement particularly impressive.
The title marks an excellent start to Fadte’s season following the summer break. He continues to build momentum by winning titles and defeating highly ranked players from different countries.
Fadte will now prepare for his next challenge, the PSA Aramis Open in Belgium, which begins in 10 days. He will then compete in the PSA Brest Squash Open in Brest, France, in three weeks, where he will face another strong international field and top players of the world!
