Walter Lobo arrested for allegedly spreading wrong news about quarantine facility at Calangute

Calangute: Goa Police on Wednesday arrested a  60-year-old man for spreading wrong news through social media about COVID-19 quarantine facility at Calangute beach village in North Goa.

Calangute police arrested Walter Lobo living at Umtawado, Calangute for his alleged involvement in spreading wrong news about a quarantine facility.

A senior police officer said that there was a complaint against him for uploading a video clip on Facebook thereby giving wrong information about the paid quarantined workers, who were lodged in a private hotel at Calangute.

Police said that the accused created anxiety in the minds of the local people residing in the said vicinity.

“The accused person violated the notification issued by the District Magistrate, North Goa, Panaji during the current lockdown,” he said.

The official said that the accused person was subsequently released on bail while further investigation is in progress.
