Margao: Goa’s Deputy Chief minister Vijai Sardesai on Monday equated Congress legislators from the state to monkeys to hop from one place to another.

Sardesai was referring to recent media reports about around ten Congress MLAs willing to join BJP after quitting their party.

“There are so many monkeys in Congress party who are ready to jump. We have read about it in the media. But we will not provide them space this side,” said Sardesai, whose Goa Forward Party is a part of NDA.

He said “let those monkeys stay there only.”

Sardesai was speaking during an event in presence of Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco.

Earlier in his speech, Lourenco had appreciated efforts of State Forest department led by Sardesai to plant more trees in the jungle so that the monkeys don’t travel to human habitation.

“I can understand that Reginaldo (Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco) has concerned about monkeys. Some of the MLAs from his own party have become monkeys,” Sardesai said.
