Reacting to the TMC’s announcement of contesting Goa elections, All India Congress Committee Goa Desk Incharge Dinesh Gundu Rao told reporters that the real intention of TMC in entering Goa, the timing, the approach raises lot of questions that needs to be answered.”
Rao was addressing mediapersons in presence of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar, Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat and others in Panaji.
“What are they going to do? Whom are they helping. Nobody comes 3-4 months before election. The leader of TMC, Mamata Banerjee, has some responsible behaviour,” he said.
“This model of TMC does not look like Mamata Model, this looks like “Modi-Amit Shah model,” he commented.
Rao said that the resignation of party MLA Luizinho Faleiro was “blessing in disguise” as the leader had lost connect with the people in his constituency. “The party was reassessing the situation in the constituency. There are so many aspirants in the constituency who can contest and win on Congress ticket,” he said, referring to Navelim segment in South Goa , which was represented by Faleiro.
Rao said that this kind of events (Faleiro’s exit) gives the party more energy. “It is a blessing in disguise,” he commented.
GPCC Chief Girish Chodankar said that Faleiro’s resignation, at the time, when Congress is emerging as a main opposition for BJP, reflect that he has ditched Goans.
“Goans will never forgive Luizinho Faleiro,” he said adding that Faleiro was never on the forefront of any agitations launched by the party.
“Faleiro now speaks of starting a movement in Goa. Where was he when Congress was raising various issues,” Chodankar questioned.
