Tiger tales no more: AAP

Panaji: In the wake of killings of tigers reported in the Sattari forest of Goa, the Aam Aadmi party accused the government of having the worst track record when  it comes to protection of environment.  AAP said that children in future will not be able to hear tales of tiger that past generations have grown up hearing, with the government failing to protect the tiger.

Aap women’s cell leader Patricia Fernandes said that the government has no record of showing any concern when it comes to hill cuttings which are being done on a massive scale across Goa, tree cutting like in the case of around 200 trees having been chopped off in Quepem recently, and rampant filling of agricultural fields.   She said that as if that was not enough, hands were laid on the precious tiger which is a national symbol of pride for the country.  “ Goa’s environment is under threat from the official machinery of the government. The forest department officials are eating from the taxpayers money not to save  forests and wild life but to preside over its destruction .  Why do we need such departments?  It’s time to finish this government before the government finishes off what is left of Goa” said Patricia.

AAP leader Ramiro Mascarenhas also echoed similar sentiments at the killings of tigers.

Meanwhile AAP has  requested the National Tiger Conservation Authority of India to take cognisance of the killings fearing that the local government may not do justice.
