Technology, alertness helps Anjuna police to arrest a husband who killed his wife in Goa

Anjuna: Anjuna Police on Friday arrested a man for killing his wife at a starred resort in the beach village of Arpora in North Goa on April 27.

Sukhwinder Singh was arrested with the help of Punjab police at Ludhiana, almost six days after he killed his wife, Alka Saini of Himachal Pradesh after stabbing her on the neck.

Anjuna Police Inspector Navlesh Desai said that the accused was missing from the time of offence and was finally found at Ludhiana and arrested. “The accused was immediately brought to Goa,” he said.

Singh is booked under section 302 of Indian Penal Code for murdering his wife.

The couple had checked in a five star resort at Arpora on September 20. The murder was detected by on April 27 when staff of the hotel had opened the room with the masterkey to clean it.

Desai said that the police were on the track of Singh from the time murder came to light. “He was traced at Ludhiana after using technology to track him down,” he said.
