Swearing in of new govt after Holi celebrations

Panaji: The Swearing-in ceremony of the new government in Goa would be conducted post Holi celebrations along with the other three states where BJP has won on majority seats, a senior party functionary said.

BJP Goa State President Sadanand Shet Tanavade told reporters that the swearing in ceremony of new government would be held only after Holi.

The party which has won on majority seats is yet to stake claim to form the next government.

Tanavade said that the swearing in ceremony of all the four states where the party has won on majority seats would be conducted after Holi.

He said that since the tenure of Goa Legislative Assembly is getting expired on March 15, the Governor has already appointed pro tem Speaker who would administer the oath to newly elected members.

Governor has summoned Assembly session on Tuesday.

Tanavade rubbished rumours that there is differences within the party over the leadership issue. “There are no differences. The Central leadership will take decision on the leadership,” he said.

When asked about inclusion of MGP in the government, Tanavade said that the decision rests with the central leadership. He admitted that 80 per cent of the new MLAs are against taking support of MGP to form the new government.

“I am also getting calls from different BJP workers who have expressed their apprehensions to include MGP in the government,” he said adding that even some of the Blocks of the party have taken resolution against the MGP.
