Supporting Sand miners, GTDC Director Jit Arolkar resigns from the post

Panaji: Expressing his solidarity with the people affected due to closure of sand mining activity, social worker from Mandrem constituency Jit Arolkar today tendered his resignation as Director of Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC).

Arolkar today tendered the resignation as GTDC Director which is addressed to Chairman of the corporation.

“I had assured eight days back that I would resign from the State government’s position if the issue of sand miners is not solved. They have been suffering from last six months,” he said.

Arolkar said that he will always stand by the people and would like to participate in the government’s position when they are suffering.

He also claimed that Dayanand Sopte is likely to be inducted as GTDC Chairman on Monday. “I would not like to work with the person who has no experience and who has been jumping parties for his benefit,” he said.

Arolkar is a social activist from Mandrem constituency.
