Candolim:  Calangute police have found two empty bottles of cough syrup in the service apartment room where Artificial intelligence start-up Chief executive officer Suchana Seth allegedly killed her four-year-old son, indicating that it was pre-planned murder.

Calangute police had arrested Seth on Monday night at Chitradurga while she was trying to flee from Goa with the body of the child stuffed in the bag.

Police sources stated that during the inspection of the room in the service apartment, they have found two empty bottles of cough syrup.

While one bottle was small, another was a bigger one, he said.

“The postmortem conducted on the body has expressed the possibility that the child may have been smothered to death and there were no signs of struggle. We are examining the possibility whether the mother gave heavy dose of cough syrup to the child before putting him to death,” the official said, refusing to get quoted.

The police inquiries with the staff of the service apartment have revealed that the mother had asked them to purchase a small bottle of cough syrup claiming that she is having cough, he said adding that the bigger bottle may have been carrying by her.

“It looks like a pre-planned murder,” he said.

Seth had checked in the service apartment on January 6 and continued living there till January 8, before leaving to Bengaluru in a taxi.

The local court in Mapusa on Tuesday has granted six days police custody for the accused. Police sources stated that the accused has continued denying her involvement in the offence during the interrogation and she is claiming that the child was already dead when she got up from her sleep.

“We don’t buy her theory. The further investigation will reveal the motive behind killing the child. As of now, we know that she had strained relationship with her husband because of which she did this,” a senior police official said.

The father of the child, Venkat Raman, who was at Jakarta arrived , last night at Chitradurga, and has taken custody of the body of the child.
