St. Cruz: St. Cruz Sarpanch Jennifer Oliveira has found herself at the center of another controversy after the Old Goa police booked her on charges of defamation.
The controversial Sarpanch has been accused of defaming fellow panchayat member Inacio Dominic Pereira by calling him a “Chor” (thief) in a video posted on social media. The Old Goa police, in the case filed against her, have referred to the complaint, which claims that she labeled Fernandes as “Chor” without any valid reason.
Pereira, who has been embroiled in a legal battle with the Sarpanch through a case filed before the Anti-Corruption Branch, has alleged corruption in the process of awarding the garbage contract.
This is the second time in recent days that Oliveira has faced controversy. Previously, Old Goa police had summoned her, along with other panchayat members, in connection with a land-filling case.
