Fabrication Work of Goa Tableau for R-Day Underway in Full Swing

January 10, 2025, Panaji: The fabrication work of the Goa State Tableau, which will be presented at the Republic Day cultural pageantry to be held in the National Capital, New Delhi, at Kartavya Path on January 26, 2025, is underway in full swing at Rashtriya Rangashala Camp, Delhi Cantt., New Delhi.

The tableau is being conceptualized and designed by well-known Goan artist Sushant Khedekar from Ponda, and the fabrication work of the tableau started on December 26, 2024, at Rashtriya Rangashala Camp. A team of 30 Goan sculptors, artisans, fabricators, carpenters, and others is executing and completing the fabrication work, led by Khedekar and Shri Purnanand Paidarkar. They are putting in dedicated efforts to ensure the tableau is ready in all respects by January 22, 2025. So far, 50 percent of the work has been completed.

This year, Goa will present its colorful float on the theme “Swarnim Bharat…Virasat aur Vikas,” depicting Goa’s rich culture and progress. It will be a proud moment for all Goans as the float, showcasing Goa’s heritage and development, will be part of the grand pageantry at Kartavya Path on January 26, 2025. After a gap of two years, Goa’s float has made it to the prestigious parade, which will feature 15 states and union territories and 11 ministries/departments of the Union Government. The parade, watched by millions across the country, is themed ‘Swarnim Bharat – Virasat aur Vikas,’ meaning ‘Golden India…Heritage and Development.’

The Goa tableau, displayed under the auspices of the Department of Information and Publicity, was shortlisted in a series of meetings by the Expert Committee constituted by the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, New Delhi. The Expert Committee, taking into account various aspects of the theme, concept, designs, and visual elements, has approved the model of the Goa tableau.

This year, the music for the tableau has been composed by Dr. Saish Deshpande, and the live dance performance will feature a team of performing artists led by Shri Dinesh Priolkar. The choreography is by Nishad, while the costumes have been designed by Sangeeta and Avani Khedekar.

Following the parade at Kartavya Path, the Goa tableau, along with other participating states, will be displayed at Red Fort as part of the Bharat Parv celebrations from January 26 to 31, 2025. During this period, there will be cultural performances by artists from the respective states.
