Saturday Night Market: Goa Tourism Dept urges Collector to take action against erring officer

Panaji: Goa Tourism Department has asked District Collector to take stern action against the officer who allowed Saturday Night Market at Arpora to function, illegally, despite bringing to the notice of the department.

The market is being organised every Saturda at Arpora village in Bardez taluka.

Tourism Department’s Deputy Director Dhiraj Vagle has issued notice to the District Collector pointing out to the communication on December 08, 2022.

The department has told the Collector that it was informed to your Office that this

Department has not issued any permission for the said event nor the proponent

have approached to us to seek permission for the same and therefore requested

to revoke the permission issued to the said event, if any and kindly issue

necessary directives to the Police Inspector of the respective Police Station to

stop the event as and when conducted.

“In this connection, The Government has taken a serious note of this

matter and hence necessary responsibility may be fixed on the concerned

Officer who has failed to stop the event, despite of issue of above mentioned

letter by this Office. I am therefore directed to seek action taken report on the above event which may be sent to this Office latest by 2.1.2023 to submit the

same to the Government for information,” the notice reads.
