Panaji: With the mining industry struggling with closer of iron ore mines in Goa and production of copper and bauxite availability, the leading industry player Vedanta Resources has urged the Central government to immediately resolve these issues in a bid to restore confidence among investors and citizens.
Vedanta Resources Executive Chairman Anil Agarwal took on social media to express his sentiments towards the crisis hit mining industry.
Pointing to the lack of response to the auctioning of natural resources, Agarwal has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to resolve the issue at the earliest.
“Stoppage of mining operations in Goa has affected the livelihoods of three lakh people…we are struggling with copper production and bauxite availability and there is very little success in natural resource auctioning,” he has tweeted.
“It is high time these issues are resolved, confidence is restored among investors and citizens, as we remain focused on our environment and take appropriate measures for sustainable development,” Agarwal has tweeted further.
Vedanta was one of the leading iron ore producer in Goa until Supreme court suspended the mining operations by quashing and setting aside the second lease renewals granted to 88 leases.
