PTA Organises Bagless Day at Raghuvir & Premavati Salkar HSS, Chorao

Panaji: The Parent-Teacher Association of Raghuvir & Premavati Salkar Higher Secondary School, Chorao, organised a Bagless Day on August 14, 2026, providing students with an opportunity to step away from the conventional classroom setting and engage in fun-filled, traditional and skill-based activities.

A variety of games and competitions were conducted as part of the programme. The Coconut Shell Painting Competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students. Master Ismail Kukanur of XI Commerce secured the first prize, Miss Sejal Insulkar of XI Commerce won the second prize, while Miss Vedika Kandolkar of XII Arts bagged the third prize.

The traditional games added excitement and enthusiasm to the event. Tug of War and Lagori were played with great fervour, with students, teachers and guests joining in the fun and sporting spirit. Other activities included Foot Cricket, Filling Water in Bottles and Bouncing the Ball into the Bucket, which tested the participants’ coordination, concentration, teamwork and agility.

The entire event was generously sponsored by the Chief Guest, Nina Vernekar. The prizes were distributed by the Chief Guest and other dignitaries, including Prashil Salkar, Nita Lotlikar, Premanand Mahambare, Dilip Fondekar and Principal Sandeep Sawal.

In her address, Nina Vernekar appreciated the initiative and said that such traditional games help foster teamwork, unity and camaraderie among students. Prashil Salkar shared a nostalgic moment, recalling his childhood memories while participating in the game of Lagori. Premanand Mahambare highlighted the significance of such activities in the light of NEP 2020, which places emphasis on the holistic development of students by promoting learning beyond academics.

Earlier, Principal Sandeep Sawal welcomed the dignitaries and participants and appreciated the PTA for organising the Bagless Day. The programme was compered by Luiza Pereira.

The event concluded on a joyful note, with students, teachers and guests thoroughly enjoying the games and activities, making the Bagless Day a memorable experience of learning, participation, teamwork and togetherness.
