Police ignores Tourism Department’s letter on Water sports, one tourist dies at Vasco

Panaji: Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte has sought report from Superintendent of Police (South Goa) after a tourist died during an illegal water sports activity in Vasco.

Khaunte told reporters that the tourism department had written letter to Police department asking them to take action against the illegal water sports activity in Vasco. The activity was happening in a non-notified zone.

But despite that the activity continued and one tourist has lost his life. Khaunte said that he has asked report from SP South as to why the activity was allowed to continue despite instructions from the tourism department. “I have asked SP why no action was taken in response to the letter by tourism department,” he said.
