Panaji : NSUI Goa along with Students of D.El.Ed met the Director of State Council of Educational Research & Training, Nagaraj Honnekeri demanding to conduct Semester End exams online.
“As much as we are in favour of answering exams in offline mode during normal times, which will encourage teacher trainees to do their best and excel even in theory papers just as they have given their best in practicals, we are still of the opinion that precautions are better than cure. We cannot ignore the

number of active cases still present in GOA and can definitely not deny the chances of community transmission in such situations” wrote the students in the Memorandum.

“Even as the GOA University has decided to conduct all the final year students exams online including B.ED. which is a higher degree in comparison with Diploma in Elementary Education, We are hoping you too can assess us through online mode for this semester” stated a Student.
Eric Stephens, the NSUI Incharge of Goa said SCERT should go for online exams as all the top universities in India have adopted this method.
Director of SCERT Honnekeri asserted that since the number of students in each centre are few they could hold offline/physical exam exams and the probability of students coming in contact with Covid 19 are minimal.
NSUI Goa President Naushad Chhowdhari argued, “Students who are home quarantine may come to answer the exams as they dont want to delay in answering it, in this way they could transmit the virus in the centre, hence Online exams is a safer option”
The Director of SCERT has taken cognizance of the matter and has informed that the matter will be discussed to find a solution.
