Panaji: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has refused to give any relaxation to the model code of conduct, which is in force in State since March 10, for undertaking infrastructural works.

The Commission in its letter to Goa CEO has said that “the process be done after conclusion of counting”.

The counting is scheduled on May 23.

The State chief secretary Parimal Rai had approached Commission seeking to relax the code in a bid to approve various infrastructural works like pre-monsoon works. The request was specific to South Goa district as no elections are pending there.
