Panaji: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has directed Mines department to draft a policy for handling of iron ore dumps by July, in a bid to resume the mining activities.
Sawant today held meeting with officials of Directorate of Mines and Geology (DMG) and stakeholders to explore options to resume the mining activities thereby providing livelihood to the people dependent on the industry.
Almost 750 million tons of iron ore reject is lying at various mines.
CM has also decided to resume the e-auction of balance five million tons iron ore, which was extracted before 2012 and is lying at the leases.
