Panaji: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant today chaired a meeting to review preparations of the State Disaster Management Authority ahead of forthcoming monsoon season.
Sawant has said that the State Government is fully geared to deal with any eventualities of the impending South- West monsoon.
He took up a detailed review of the preparations done by various line departments and the district administrations. The meeting was also attended by Minister for Revenue Rohan Khaunte.
The meeting also deliberated on preparatory measures to be taken, which includes cleaning of drains, pruning of dangerous tress, flood relief measures, checking the readiness of equipment and communication systems, advance procurement of necessary relief material and coordinated approach for disaster response at the district level.
The District Administration of North and South Goa will host 24x 7 control rooms at all twelve taluka headquarters and at the District headquarters. There will also be a central control room at the Secretariat Porvorim.
IMD (Metrological Department) will be providing daily reports on the weather forecast, which will be shared with Nodal Officers. WRD will be providing daily report on the water levels in the river.
