Panaji: National Green Tribunal (NGT) has granted final extension of six weeks to the State government to submit its report on private forests.
it has, however, slammed a additional penalty of Rs 50 lakh for the delay.
Hearing a petition filed by Goa Foundation, the bench agreed to grant further time of six weeks to submit the report, making it clear that no further extension shall be granted.
“This, of course, shall be subject to payment of Rs 50 lakh as already directed,” the bench said.
The matter is posted for final hearing and disposal on January 21, 2020.
