Panaji: A childright NGO on Wednesday filed a complaint with the State police about the “presence of children” at anti-CAA rally organised by Goa Church based organizations on January 24 in South district.

Goa Church backed organizations had organised anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) rally at Lohia Maidan in Margao which was attended by thousands of people.

State-based NGO Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) on Wednesday filed a formal complaint with Director General of Police against presence of children at the rally.

SCAN Director Emidio Pinho, in a complaint, has said that “having impressionable children at such gatherings, places them in a vulnerable situation.”

“Children are exposed to political ideology, aggressive and often derogatory language and this can leave a lasting memory,” he said.

The SCAN said that participation in such rallies “can be detrimental to their sensitive minds.”

“Also, at such meetings, the participants can become violent and innocent children become victims,” he said.

When contacted, a senior police officer said that they are examining the complaint.
