Panaji: The Muslim Association has raised its strong objection to the citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) demanding its immediate revocation in the interest of nation.
Association of All Goa Muslim Jamats (AAGMJ) President Bashir Ahmed on Tuesday said that the CAA is against the constitution. “The Act is communal divisive and regressive as it includes a ‘religious test’ for granting Citizenship,” he said.
Ahmed said that the Act will not only damage unit and plural nature of India but also the image of the country in the eyes of international community.
“The association rejects the Bill and demands its immediate revocation in the interest of the nation,” he said.
The leader said that the Muslims in India have been very patient in the recent past and its leadership has shown great maturity in the light of repeated provocations.
The CAA and NRC are having far reaching consequences and the Muslims of India who rejected the two nation theory and stayed back in India, understand the potential damage these two act can cause.
