Panaji: In a significant breakthrough against organised cyber financial fraud, the Cyber Crime Police Station, Goa, has successfully arrested two accused from Pune, Maharashtra, in connection with a sophisticated fake online share investment scam involving ₹39,01,047/-. Through sustained technical investigation, financial intelligence and coordinated interstate operations, the Cyber Crime Police have also successfully secured ₹23,12,000/- of the complainant’s defrauded money.

SP Cyber Crime, Shri Jivba Dalvi, GPS, informed that Cyber Crime PS registered Crime No. 92/2026 on 03/10/2026 under Sections 318(4), 319(2) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 66-D of the Information Technology Act, following a complaint lodged by a 60-year-old resident of Porvorim, Goa.

The complainant alleged that between 21/08/2026 and 28/09/2026, unknown fraudsters contacted him through WhatsApp using different mobile numbers and induced him to join a fraudulent investment group named “A83 DI Wealth Growth Centre.”

The fraudsters lured the complainant with promises of attractive returns through online share investments. Believing their representations, the complainant transferred a total amount of ₹39,01,047/- into multiple bank accounts provided by the accused.

To gain his confidence, the fraudsters displayed fictitious profits on a fraudulent investment application. However, when the complainant attempted to withdraw his invested amount and purported profits, the accused demanded additional investments and subsequently stopped responding, thereby cheating him of his hard-earned money.

TECHNICAL AND FINANCIAL INVESTIGATION LEADS TO MAHARASHTRA

SP Cyber further informed that, during the investigation, the Cyber Crime team conducted detailed scrutiny of financial transactions, bank account trails and other technical evidence.

The investigation revealed that ₹10,80,000/- had been transferred into the Kotak Mahindra Bank account of accused Ajinkya Ravindra Abhang, while ₹12,00,000/- had been transferred into the Bank of India account of accused Sagar Prakash Dholvi.

Through systematic financial analysis and technical investigation, the police successfully traced the accused to the Pune region of Maharashtra.

Acting on these leads, a special team from Cyber Crime Police Station, Goa, was deputed to Maharashtra.

After sustained efforts and coordinated field operations, the team headed by PSI Anil Polekar successfully apprehended:

2. Ajinkya Ravindra Abhang, arrested on 24/10/2026 at Alephata, Pune, Maharashtra.

PUBLIC ADVISORY: BEWARE OF FAKE ONLINE INVESTMENT SCHEMES

SP Cyber Crime Shri Jivba Dalvi has appealed to the general public to remain extremely cautious while dealing with online investment opportunities circulated through WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook and other social media platforms.

Citizens are advised to observe the following precautions:

1. Do not trust investment offers promising guaranteed or unusually high returns. Such promises are frequently used to lure victims into fraudulent schemes.
2. Avoid joining unknown WhatsApp or Telegram investment groups, particularly those claiming to provide exclusive stock market tips or guaranteed profits.
3. Verify the credentials of investment advisers and trading platforms through official SEBI and stock exchange channels before investing.
4. Never transfer money into unknown personal or third-party bank accounts on the instructions of individuals claiming to be investment advisers.
5. Beware of fake trading applications displaying artificial profits. Fraudsters often manipulate dashboards to create the illusion of successful investments.
6. Never pay additional money to withdraw supposed investment profits. Demands for taxes, verification charges or withdrawal fees are common warning signs of investment fraud.
7. Report suspected cyber financial fraud immediately by calling the National Cyber Crime Helpline 1930 or registering a complaint at https://cybercrime.gov.in.
