Panaji: Despite keeping party’s flag high even during the lean days, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Pratima Coutinho was rejected South Goa ticket.

Interestingly, the ticket was allotted to Sardinha, who was not active in politics since last few years, while Pratima along with her group was hitting hard the BJP-led government.

Pratima has faced several police investigations as a part of her agitations in favour of the party. She was considered as the lone flag bearer of the party when it’s senior leaders were reluctant to criticize the government.

The Mahila Congress leader was considered as a front runner for the ticket, even as Sardinha’s name had cropped up.

Initially, Luizinho Faleiro’s name was considered as front runner but since he refused to contest, Pratima was leading.

The announcement from Delhi has come as a shocker for Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee which has failed to get the ticket to its president, despite sweating it out on the streets, agitating against the government.
