Judgment2024: Vijai, Sardinha meets Manikrao Thakare in Panaji hotel

Panaji: The Congress party on Saturday held series of meeting ahead of Lok Sabha election in Goa in order to anoint its coordiantion with the coalition partners and also address the issues of the local leaders.

All India Congress Committee Goa desk in charge Manikrao Thakare flew to Goa on Friday evening and began series of meeting in a starred hotel in Panaji on Saturday.

The congress leader met Goa Forward party President Vijai Sardesai, whose party is a part of INDIA Alliance.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, Thakare said that the discussions with the alliance partners have continued. He said that the screening committee of the party has already shortlisted the candidates, while the final announcement would be made only after party’s Central Election Committee meets in New Delhi.

The Congress leader said that there is no delay in announcing the candidates as usually the announcement comes when elections are declared.

Emerging from the meeting, Sardesai said that he has no say in the candidates. When asked about his preferred candidate for both the Parliamentary seats, Sardesai commented “I don’t want to get into this because I am not contesting.”

Congress MP Francisco Sardinha, representing South Goa parliamentary constituency, was part of a separate meeting with Thakare on Saturday. Sardinha said that there was lot of discussion but there was no outcome.

He said that Thakare will inform the centre about the local sentiments.

Sardinha said that he is aspiring for the ticke. “I have already done by campaigning through my work during last five years,” he said.

Earlier this week, all the partners of INDIA Alliance had met in Panaji, resolving to form a coordination committee between all the allies.
