Mapusa: Joshua, Son of former Deputy Chief Minister late Francis D’Souza, has vowed to take forward the legacy of his father.

He was speaking during the funeral mass on Saturday which was attended by thousands of people who had gathered to bid farewell to their favourite leader.

“We will carry his legacy with pride and grace the way he wanted it. After his demise, I will continue to serve the people of Mapusa the way he did. My father was a man of the people unlike others. He was always there for the people of Mapusa. All he wanted was to get better and back on his feet only for the people,” he said.

Joshua’s statement comes a day after Goa Forward party Chief Vijai Sardesai commented that he would back the former in carrying ahead legacy of his father.

“My mother has been a pillar of strength to my father and us. She would look after him tirelessly that’s how he made it to 64. My mother made sure that she was at home for lunch and dinner,” Joshua said.
