Sanquelim: Six individuals whose quiet and consistent work has contributed to the social life of Sanquelim were felicitated as “Silent Stars of Sanquelim” by JCI Sanquelim at a special programme held here on Sunday.
The programme was organised by JCI Sanquelim to recognise unsung contributors to the community.
BJP leader and JCI Sanquelim mentor Sulakshana Sawant, who is also a Director of the Matoshree Padmini Educational Society, felicitated these Silent Stars in the presence of JCI Sanquelim President JC Asmita Gauns, Past Zone President of JCI India Zone 11 JC Shaba Gauns, Zone Director Training of JCI India Zone 11 JC Nikita Desai, and others.
The programme was organised as part of the JCI Week celebrations scheduled from September 9 to 15.

Sawant felicitated Suresh Pethkar, who has been selling newspapers since 1975; Mahesh Satodkar, a traditional poder; ambulance driver Laxman Jalmi; motorcycle pilot Satyawan Falkar; hearse van driver Balkrishna Naik; and sanitation worker Durgadas Mallanpur.
The six were recognised for their dedicated service to the community. The project was titled “Salute the Silent Stars” by the organisers.
The programme also felicitated women achievers from Sanquelim, including journalist Radhika Satoskar and social media influencer Aishwarya Chari, in recognition of their contributions to their respective fields.
The event highlighted the contributions of individuals working behind the scenes and the importance of recognising their role in strengthening community life.
