Panaji: INDIA Alliance on Tuesday began its election campaign in North and South Goa Parliamentary constituencies after paying respect to the martyrs’ memorials in both the districts.

The campaign in North Goa began after paying tributes at Patradevi memorial in Pernem taluka on Goa-Maharashtra border.

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Amit Patkar, AAP Goa chief Amit Palekar, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, MLAs Altone D’Costa, Carlos Ferreira and Cruz Silva were present at the memorial.

Goa Forward party general secretary Durgadas Kamat, NCP (Sharatchandra Pawar group) President Jose Philip D’Souza and Goa chief of Shiv Sena (UBT) Jitesh Kamat were joined the campaign.

North Goa Parliamentary seat candidate Ramakant Khalap and South Goa Viriato Fernandes were also present on the occasion.

Addressing the crowd, Patkar said that the BJP MP Shripad Naik has taken the constituency back by 15 years, due to his non performance. He said that the BJP candidate has failed to perform, due to which the voters have decided to stand by INDIA Alliance.

Patkar said that all the alliance partners have joined hands together for the victory of both the candidates.

AAP Goa chief Amit Palekar said that the BJP has been busy dividing
people on the lines of religion and castes. He said that after failing to divide people on the basis of religion, the BJP is now trying to create divide between the castes of Hindu religion.

The INDIA Alliance leaders later went to Margao where they laid wreath at the memorial at historic Lohia Maidan.
