IMA Goa State organized registration program for Biomedical Waste Disposal Authorization

Panaji: IMA Goa state & IMA Tiswadi in collaboration with Health and Wellness Committee of GCCI organized a registration drive with GSPCB and IT Biotic for all Clinical Establishments for Biomedical Waste Management on May 6th Friday at 930am onwards at GCCI hall.
At the Inaugural function held in Panaji,  Dr. Tariq Thomas,  Secretary of Science and Technology,  Government of Goa was the Chief Guest. He enumerated the efforts put forth by all stake holders from the Government of Goa in establishing a state of the art Biomedical Waste Disposal Plant at Kundai Ponda using the most modern technology. He urged all doctors to register with Goa Pollution Control Board and IT BIOTIC for disposal of biomedical waste generated by them.
Dr Rufino Monteiro, State President IMA Goa State,  welcomed the gathering and while expressing gratitude for great relief for the biomedical waste management put in place by the government authorities, stressed on the need for all doctors and medical facilities to register for Biomedical Waste Disposal Authorization.
Dr. Ralf Dsouza,  President GCCI,  enlisted the various aspects in generating,  segregating and disposing of Biomedical Waste.
Dr. Levinson Martins gave a brief review of all efforts put in by all stakeholders in getting the Biomedical Waste Disposal Plant established at Kundai Goa.
Dr. Sharmila Monteiro, Member Secretary of GPCB, gave a call to all doctors to dispose of Biomedical Waste in a scientific manner so that environmental Hazards are avoided.  The Biomedical Waste Plant has adopted the latest technology and as such scientifically disposes of the Biomedical Waste.
On this occasion  a booklet on Waste Management in Coop Societies developed by Infrastructure Committee of GCCI was  released at the hands of the Chief Guest Dr. Tariq Thomas in the presence of Mr. Levinson Martins and Mrs. Sharmila Monteiro.
Dr Amol Tilve, IMA Goa State Secretary,  proposed the vote of thanks.
A dedicated counter manned by representatives of the Goa State  Pollution Board department and IT Biotic company  were available from 930am onwards for facilitating registration of all interested Health Care facilities and doctors clinics. 45 doctors took advantage of this day-long program .
