Panaji: A senior BJP leader on Wednesday said that if tourism footfalls have decreased in Goa, then it is a matter of concern.
“Goa is a popular tourist destination. Economy of the State dependents on it,” BJP National Vice President Vinay Sahasrabuddhe told reporters in Panaji.
“If there is a drop in tourism footfalls then it is definitely a cause of concern,” he said.
The BJP leader was in Goa as a part of drive to collect feedback and suggestions for the party in the run up for drafting of manifesto for upcoming Lok Sabha election.
State Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar had recently admitted that there was a drop in tourism footfalls during the New Year season.
He had said that State government was working to correct this phenomenon.
Talking to reporters in Panaji, Sahasrabuddhe also said that the BJP is willing to include Special Status to Goa as a part of its election manifesto for upcoming Lok Sabha election.
“We are accepting all the suggestions. We will include it (special status to Goa) and implement it (when we are in power),” he said.
