Panaji: Former General Secretary of Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee Aishwarya Salgaonkar has got support from Goa’s daughter and internationally famed singer Hema Sardesai in her cause.
Aishwarya’s fast enters fifth day today on Women’s Day even as none from the Congress has bothered to visit her. She is demanding justice against the treatment meted out to her by GPMCC President Pratima Coutinho.
Hema who claimed that Aishwarya is her Facebook friend has said “this is a fervent appeal for help for this Goan lady..beyond any political party lines.”
“My concern is only strongly as a fellow Goan and a fellow lady of Goa on this grave matter. I am used to seeing fellow Goans so laid back on issues Goa faces,” she said.
“But we can’t just sit pretty everytime and watch someones mind and health get ruined in front of our eyes and do nothing about it. Where I am concerned..I have cared for Women’s issues publicly since 1998..and as a fellow lady of Goa I am not going to just watch what is happening and turn away,” she added.
Hema has said a facebook friend of mine Aishwarya Salgaonkar.. has gone on indefinite hunger strike at Azad Maidan Panjim. She is expressing great dilemma over some issues that need to be cleared asap by the concerned people..
“Internal matters need to be solved internally..but if they don’t get solved we Goans just watching a Goan lady risking her life for something that might be really paining her deeply. I have heard her son also is joining her at this time..so the entire family is going through trauma.”
“Hence I firstly appeal to one of the kindest concerned Ladies of Goa, Dr Pramod Salgaocar to look into this matter at the earliest..and save this lady from further damage to her mental and physical health.”
“Looking forward to the needful being done immediately and the matter being solved.”
Hema has also added a disclaimer which reads: As always this is a genuine quest and I have no hidden motives/agendas in this matter whatsoever..except respect for Womenhood and timely saving of lives.
