Housing Board allottees face hardship to arrange money for the flats; seeks board intervention

Panaji: As the auction system introduced for purchase of Goa Housing Board flats, escalates the value of the flat at Gogol in Margao, the allottes are finding it difficult to raise the amount as the banks have declined to entertain them.

The allottees today morning met Managing director Sabaji Shetye and demanded its intervention in the matter.

Speaking to reporters post meeting, BJP Yuva manch president from Navelim Vinayak Volvoikar said that for the auction of 39 flats at Gogol, the tenements were initially valued at around Rs 35,000 per sq mtrs; however, during the auction, the value went up to Rs 50,000 per sq mtrs, thus escalating the value of the flat.

He pointed out that since the value of the flat witness rise, the allottees are finding it difficult to raise the unds to pay  to the Board within 25 days as per the rule. “They are facing lot of hardship as the banks are not entering them,” he said.  

Later, when contacted, GHB managing director Sabaji Shetye said that we have assured the delegation to speak to the bank and work out solution. “We will try and convince the banks,” he said.
