Panaji: Right Wing organization – Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) on Sunday expressed their strong objection to hosting Suburn Klassique festival in Goa, which is scheduled to be held between December 27-29.
Electronic Dance Music (EDM) festival, Sunburn Klassique, will be held at Vagator in North Goa between December 27-29.
HJS’ Goa conveyor Manoj Solanki on Sunday said that the State government should immediately withdraw the permission granted for the organizers of Suburn Klassique to host the event.
He said that the culture promoted during the festival is not ours. He said that the wrong culture is promoted during the event attracting thousands of youth for it.
Solanki alleged that the drugs are being consumed during the festival. “At least two women participants have lost their lives due to drug overdose at the festival in last few years,” he said.
The HJS has also said that there is insult to the National Flag during the festival as some of the participants drap themselves in the tri-colour flag while dancing to the tune of EDM.
Earlier, Goa Forward Party MLA and former State Water Resources Department minister Vinod Palyekar had opposed hosting Sunburn-type festivals in the state claiming that they don’t promote Indian music.
He had said that the classical music should be promoted through these kind of festivals.
