GST council meeting allows ITC on purchase of demo cars

New Delhi: Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant while participating in the 54th GST council meeting held on September 9 in New Delhi referred to the blocked input taxi credit (ITC) for demo cars used by authorised dealers.

A senior official from Goa CMO said that Sawant referred to the issue of blocked input taxi credit on purchase of Demo cars by authorised car selling dealers which they use for giving the rest drives to new customers.

He said that Sawant raised the issue and requested for giving clarification for allowing this ITC.

“After detailed discussion, the GST council accepted this proposal and agreed to issue suitable clarification to that effect for allowing this ITC on purchase of demo cars used for promoting the sale of such vehicles,” the CMO said.

The meeting held at Sushama Swaraj Bhavan, New Delhi which was chaired by Union Finance Minister.

The CMO official said that the decision on ITC for demo cars will benefit all the authorities car dealers in Goa as well as pan-India.

In yet another issue, Sawant who heads the Group of Ministers on boosting real estate sector made a brief presentation before the GST council.

The CMO official said that a Group of Ministers (GoM) on boosting Real Estate Sector has been reconstituted vide Order dated June 24, 2024 with Dr. Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister, Goa as its convener and Dy. C.M. Bihar, Dy. CM Maharashtra, Finance Ministers of U. P., Gujarat, Kerala, Punjab as Members.

He said that a meeting of this GoM was last held at North Block, New Delhi on August 22, 2024.

On 54th GST Council meeting, Dr. Pramod Sawant as Convenor of this GoM made a brief presentation before the GST Council giving details of work done so far by the GoM and informing that next meeting of this GoM is fixed on September 24, 2024 in Goa for completing the task assigned of giving relief to Real estate sector for boosting its growth.
