Govt restricts time for bursting Diwali crackers

Panaji: Following directions from Supreme Court, State Government has issued order restricting timing for bursting of firecrackers during upcoming Diwali festival.

A notification has been issued by Department of Environment in this regard.

”On the day of the Diwali on October 27, fire crackers are allowed to be burst in the morning from 4.30 am to 5.30 am and in the evening from 7.00 pm to 8.00 pm strictly”, department said.

For other days during the Diwali Festival Period i.e. October 28 and 29, which is being observed in the state of Goa, the firecrackers bursting time shall be strictly restricted between 8.00 pm to 10.00 pm only.

The police station in-charge of the respective police station shall be fully responsible for implementation of the supreme court directions, the notification said.
