Panaji, March 20, 2020

The Governor Shri Satya Pal Malik  has welcomed the call given by Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi  and has urged the  people of Goa to respect and honour the words of Prime Minister and observe ‘Janata Curfew’ by showing resolve and by exercising restraint by staying indoor on March 22, 2020 from 7.00 a.m. to 9,00 p.m.

The  Governor has also urged the citizens of  Goa to come out to their balconies or doorsteps and clap for the medical fraternity and others who are working tirelessly to fight “COVID-19”  as mark of respect and gratitude on March 22, 2020 at 5.00 pm.

On March 19, 2020 Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the nation on outbreak of ‘COVID-19’. Prime Minister called on all the citizens to observe ‘Janata Curfew’ on March 22, 2020 from 7.00 a.m to 9.00 p.m to avoid all kind of gathering and to reduce public interaction to the minimum. Prime Minister has also appealed to all the citizens to go to their balconies or at the door of their homes and to clap as a mark of gratitude to all those working round the clock to keep India safe specialty the medical fraternity. Prime Minister has also emphazed on the need of social distancing to protect ourselves and other from being infected.

Hon’b1e Prime Minister has also advised on taking special care of children and elders. Therefore, Hon’ble Governor requests the elderly citizens of the State to remain indoors as far as possible and to keep themselves safe. Hon’ble Governor also requests the parents to take special care of their children so as to protect them. Hon’ble Governor has urged all the branches of Government/Autonomous bodies/NCC/NGOs to work hand-in-hand to fight the ‘COVID-19’.

Hon”ble Prime Minister has clearly underlined the gravity of the threat and has rightly said that to presume that we will not be affected by this disease would not be a right attitude. I3on’ble Prime Minister has appealed to the citizens to show resolve and exercise restraint for next few weeks, as the citizens have pivotal role in combating the disease.

The Governor therefore has urged  the citizens of Goa to be alert and not to lower guards vis-â-vis ‘COVID — 19’.
