Panaji: The president of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee Girish Chodankar on Saturday said that with the growing support of people of Goa, Congress party will easily get majority with 23-26 seats in the assembly election, thus Goans will deprive BJP from option of ‘manipulation and defection’.

“After the results of the last assembly election, desperate BJP didn’t respect the mandate of people and encouraged defection to gain power. This has indeed made loss of State, as our coffers have run dry. Knowing this and by posing trust in Congress the people will now not give any opportunity to BJP to further ruin our state.” Chodankar said.

He was speaking while enrolling Nazir Khan , from Vasco, former chairman of NCP Minority Cell, in Congress along with his supporters as a part of ongoing digital membership.

GPCC Vice President M K Sheikh, Sankalp Amonkar, District President Joe Dias and others were present on the occasion at Congress House-Panajim.

“Many people are interested in joining Congress during our ongoing membership drive. Our present Mantra is ‘join Congress’, for which we are getting a good response.” He said.

He said that some sections of society are pained by ‘dadagiri’ of BJP, who resort to suppressing the voice of people. “joining of such people in Congress will help us to fight against the atrocities of BJP.” He said.

Sankalp Amonkar said that this time there is no scope for divisive politics of BJP as people are aware about their tactics. “In Mormugao we are getting good support and we will not allow BJP to split our votes.” He said. Mr. Khan’s joining will help us win all four seats of Marmagoa.

Nazir Khan said that BJP is a communal party, and it functions with the same agenda across India. “I have always raised voice against communal acts of BJP and assure that people will not fall prey to their tactics.” He said.

He said that Congress is the only secular party, which takes all people together.

While replying to a question about resigning from NCP to join Congress, Mr. Khan said that in Goa only Congress can defeat BJP as its leaders and cadres are present all over Goa. NCP cannot contest more than 5-8 seats in Goa.

He said, he will help unite all sections in Goa under congress banner.
GPCC Vice President M. K. Sheikh introduced the new members while District President Joe Dias enrolled Mr. Khan and others as members of the party.
