Goa HC quashes summons issued to Kejriwal

Panaji: The Goa Bench of Bombay High Court on Tuesday quashed summons issued to AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the trial against him for violating model code of conduct.

AAP Goa chief Amit Palekar said that the Bombay High Court at Goa has quashed summons issued to Kejriwal in connection with the complaint filed against him during 2017 Goa assembly election.

Judicial Magistrate First Class, Mapusa had summoned Kejriwal in connection with the chargesheet filed against him under the Representation of the People Act and section 171 (E) of the Indian Penal Code dealing with bribery.

Palekar said that Kejriwal had represented before the JMFC when summons were issued to him in November last year. The time was sought as we wanted to appeal the summons before the High Court, he said.

The AAP Goa chief said that the matter was fixed before the JMFC, Mapusa on February 12.
