Goa govt draws ambitious programme to make villages “Swayampoorna”

Panaji: The Goa government on Thursday announced commissioning its ambitious scheme aiming to increase the economic activities in the villages, while providing benefit of all the state and central government schemes to the doorstep of the people from October 02 onwards.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant while informing about the program titled “Aatmanirbhar Bharat Swayampoorna Goa” said that the army of government officers, teachers and students will reach to each and every village panchayat to ensure that the every village becomes self reliant, harvesting the available resources within the area.

He said that the program would be implemented in three phases beginning from October 2, 2020 till October 02, 2021, which would be the first phase followed by second phase till October 02, 2022 and third phase will culminate on October 02, 2023.

Besides government officers, the teachers and students, who will be called as “swayampoorna mitra” would also be involved in this program which will provide benefit of all the state and central government schemes to the village panchayats.

Sawant said that the skill mapping of the population and resource identification of the villages would be done in order to ensure that every village become self-sustainable.

“We want to eradicate poverty in each of the village. This is possible only if locals and state government partner in it. We are expecting the cooperation from you all,” the Chief Minister said, while announcing about the flagship programme, which will be banking on the data collected by various government agencies about social and economic assets and liabilities of each of the village.

The Chief Minister said that the private industrial sector would also be encouraged under this program providing them “ease of doing business”.

As a part of “Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Swayampoorna Goa”, he said “training programmes would be conducted during the entire year for the people to get upskilled.”
