Goa govt aims to recover Rs 402 crore from power consumers through OTS

Panaji:   Goa Cabinet on Wednesday introduced One Time Settlement scheme for the Electricity department consumers in the state, extending up to six months.

Chief minister Pramod Sawant told reporters that the One Time Settlement of the Electricity Bill scheme has been re-introduced with the aim to collect arrears of Rs 402 crore which is pending with the customers.

He said that the scheme would be in operation for next six months.

Sawant said that the scheme was introduced earlier this year but many had not taken the benefit of it. The chief minister stated that around 17,801 consumers whose bills are pending are eligible under this scheme.

State Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar told reporters that the scheme has been reintroduced following requests from the consumers for the same.

He said that the scheme also covers the Industrial units, who have not paid the Bills.
