Panaji: The draft Goa Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP) 2019 has been prepared but is yet to be placed before the Technical Scrutiny Committee, the state government informed the Goa Legislative Assembly on Monday.

Replying to an unstarred question by MLA Yuri Alemao, Chief Minister and Environment and Climate Change Minister Pramod Sawant said that the draft CZMP 2019, prepared by the National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management (NCESS), is expected to be placed in the public domain for public consultation in about a month.

“The draft CZMP 2019 from NCESS is expected to be placed in the public domain for public consultation in about a month or so,” the government said.

The government clarified that the CZMP 2019 has neither been approved nor notified and that the draft plan is currently under preparation.

According to the reply, the draft CZMP 2019 was prepared and submitted by NCESS to the Department of Environment and Climate Change, following which it was circulated to various government departments.

However, the draft has not been placed before the Technical Scrutiny Committee (TSC) to date.

The department had also sought comments and suggestions on the draft Coastal Zone Management Plan, 2019, from government departments and autonomous bodies.
