Goa approached centre asking for additional reagent testing kits

Panaji: Getting set to have its own testing facility in the state, Goa government on Friday has approached the centre asking for additional reagent testing kits in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak.

Goa has three positive cases for Coronavirus infection reported so far. All the patients are admitted in Goa medical college and hospital.

State Health minister Vishwajit Rane tweeted “Through video conference, I had an excellent interaction with the Hon’ble Union Health Minister @drharshvardhan Ji & Secretary Health, GOI.

I requested Hon’ble minister for providing us additional reagent testing kits for starting our own testing facility in the state on Saturday.”

“We also informed him of our preparedness to curb the spread of #COVID19,” he added in the tweet.

“The Safety of our patients and curbing the virus from the state of Goa is our top priority. Working towards a healthy Goa,” he tweeted further.

State has sent its team for training at National Institute of Virology in Pune to get trained for testing the samples.

The laboratory is being set up at GMCH near here.
