Panaji: Stating that Congress President Girish Chodankar failed to prove that Goa Forward Party (GFP) President and Minister Vijai Sardesai was in the known of the ‘Adopt of Heritage’ scheme, the party has demanded that the former should apologize to the people for the lie.
“Whatever documents Girish has produced, he has failed to show an iota of truth to prove that my President and Minister for Archives and Archaeology Vijai Sardesai was in the know of the scheme. He also failed to prove that Minister had approved the proposal or noting the department had placed before Chief Minister,” GFP chief spokesperson Trajano D’Mello said addressing press conference today.
D’Mello said that Girish even tried to mislead the people that under the scheme, the monuments would be taken over by the private party.
“Girish should infact apologize to the people and assure them that he will not play politics of sensationalizing to be in the news,” he demanded.
“Even after having documents with him, which never indicated handling over of the monuments, Girish went on to say that they have no opposition to maintenance of the monuments but taking over it. This was a lie,” D’Mello commented.
If one recalls, Girish last week had announced to expose Sardesai and Tourism Minister Manohar Azgaonkar with the documentary evidences that both of them were about the scheme and had infact proposed the sites.
However, when the documents were made public, it was revealed that it was Tourism Minister who had signed the communication to Centre and not Minister for Archives and Archaeology.
