Drugs worth Rs 8.38 crore seized in various raids by Goa police this year

Panaji: Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday said that the Goa police have arrested 197 people in various anti-narcotic raids across the state seizing drugs worth Rs 8.38 crore during the current calendar year.

Talking to reporters, Sawant said that the stringent action is taken against the narcotics trade in the state by anti narcotic cell and Goa police.

He said that in the various raids, 197 accused were arrested from January 01, 2023 till December 21, 2023 seizing 204 kilograms of drugs worth Rs 8.38 crore.

The chief minister said that the drugs which was seized was disposed off in the biomedical waste facility set up at Kundaim industrial estate in North Goa.

He said that he had personally monitored one of such disposal along with the team of media professionals.

Sawant said that the anti narcotic cell has kept a strict watch on the drug paddlers operating in the state.
