Margao: A senior Congress leader on Tuesday accused All India Congress Committee General Secretary Digvijaya Singh of hindering the process to form the government in Goa after 2017 Assembly election.

Former Goa Chief Minister, Current MLA and AICC Secretary Luizinho Faleiro told reporters on Tuesday that he was stopped from handing over the letter to Goa Governor Mridula Sinha staking claim to form the government by Singh.

“After the last election of assembly, that night, when AICC GS Digvijaya Singh did not allow me to hand over the letter of formation of government to the Governor,” said Faleiro.

He said that in protest of that (not allowing him to hand over the letter), he resigned as President of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC).

“I even refused to take over the responsibility as Leader of Opposition even though majority members of the group were in support of me,” Faleiro said.

“They (party leaders) had promised that they will form the government in 24 hours but 24 months have passed and nothing has happened,” he said.

“I have a patience. I have not interfered and I will not interfere (in the party affairs),” he said.

Faleiro also refused that he was a contender for upcoming Lok Sabha election.

“I am not interested in contesting for parliamentary election. I have not even applied for it,” he said.
